    Hi Dr Hubbard,
I am in the process of completing a biography of my g-g-grandfather, William Schaw Lindsay (1815-1877). You refer to him, with kind words, in your book on ‘The Burden of Confederate Diplomacy’.
He had a full life and his interaction in the American Civil War is only a part of it. That being said, it is an important and exhaustive part.
My quest started when I commenced transcribing his journals in the Caird Library in the National Maritime Museum in London. There are approx 20 of them, each about 800 pages long. It’s taken me 6 years. I’m now retired and living 30 miles north of London.
I wanted to thank you for including him in your book.
    Best regards
    Bill
